Dublin Report In today’s Irish politics, it’s every man for himself

There are many Irish people who believe that the two tribunals running in Dublin Castle are salutary lessons in democracy, lessons that might force the country’s politicians to be a much more ethical lot.

Politicians, of course, are much the same the world over. Their main concern is to gain power and then to retain it for as long as possible. There is not a TD in Ireland who will refuse to fight tooth and nail for his or her seat.
