New & Noteworthy: Brosnan’s son injured in car crash

"James Bond" star Pierce Brosnan was quite shaken this week when a car, in which his son was a passenger, plunged down the side of a mountain in Malibu. Sean Brosnan, 16, barely cheated death in the crash, suffering a broken pelvis, multiple fractures and a ruptured spleen. Rescue workers at the scene had to cut him out of the mangled wreck.

The crash occurred on Saturday as Brosnan’s nephew James Hall lost control of his car on a narrow mountain road. Police have charged Hall, 19, with driving under the influence of alcohol.

The elder Brosnan has put all of his engagements on hold to be with Sean during the recovery period. This includes his wedding to fiancée Keely Shay Smith, which was planned for next month.

"This is not the Easter I had planned," a relieved Brosnan told reporters. "My family and I give gratitude to God and to many extraordinary men and women that my son will have a full recovery."
