Blooms, after all, was a bona fide success. Written up in Zagat’s Nightlife guide and long considered worth the trip, the bar almost singlehandedly brought life into the block of Queens Boulevard that it held court on.
Unfortunately, the Manhattan project was made a priority when a fire destroyed Blooms in August of 2003.
“It just forced our hand,” said Fox, who is from Dublin.
Now he and Conlon hope to use that same gilded touch that made Blooms famous for a good time in a great setting on the corner of 30th street and Third Avenue.
The partners decided to throw all their efforts into a new premise, and registered with no fewer than 50 brokers. After seeing more places they could keep track of, Fox and Conlon saw the property that was to become the Banc Caf
