Why I chose this career: My family were involved in the hotel and restaurant world for over thirty years, so it was a natural progression for me to jump into the business. There are few careers as exciting, interesting, and diverse as the hotel business, no two days ever being the same and that is what makes it so great. I could not imagine myself doing anything else. I have been extremely fortunate in my career to date and consider myself very lucky to be able to go to work everyday with an incredible team of professionals, looking after our great guests.

Status: Married.

Family: My wife Lauren, our daughter Mairin, and our second due in February.

The proudest moment of my career: Becoming General Manager of the Courtyard DuPont Circle, Washington, D.C. at age 28.

Biography: Located in the former Boston Police Department Headquarters, Roche-Garland oversees The Back Bay Hotel and the operations of this historic 225 room property. With over a decade of experience in this capacity, Roche-Garland most recently served as General Manager of the Bristol Hotel (Bristol, England). While overseeing all operations of the 187 room hotel, Roche-Garland was also responsible for spearheading a comprehensive refurbishment program. Prior to his post at The Bristol Hotel, Roche-Garland was General Manager in Washington, D.C at another property under the Doyle Collection’s umbrella, The Courtyard by Marriot Northwest. At The Courtyard, Roche-Garland’s duties included overseeing another multimillion dollar refurbishment program of the property. During his earlier years with the company, Roche-Garland worked at Jurys Cork Hotel, now The River Lee and at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin. A native of County Clare, Roche-Garland is a graduate in Business, Hotel and Catering Management from the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology.
